Individual Therapy
I believe you are the expert on your own life and I am a guide to help you towards what you already know what is best for you. My underlying belief about life is that change is always happening, and even though it can be incredibly challenging at times, change is good. We all change at our own pace and I'd love to support you and challenge you through your personal development.
I provide value-based therapy to ages 13+ using many Solution Focused and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) interventions. I use attachment theory to help develop an understanding of how you function in relationship to others, considering the ways you learned to love and be loved. I often use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to treat trauma symptoms.
While I prefer in-office sessions, I also offer telehealth appointments when needed.
My areas of focus include:
Eating Disorders
Trauma
LGBTQ Concerns
ADHD Management
Relational Therapy
If you are wondering if you could use relational therapy, the answer is likely yes! Often people wait until they are in high distress to seek relational therapy. You do not need to wait! The earlier you seek support, the more likely your relationship will benefit from therapy. Relationships are hard! But rewarding.
With my marriage and family therapy education, I provide relational therapy for a variety of family configurations. I work with couples, families, and partners in poly/ethically non-monogamous relationships. When more than one person is present for an experience, more than one truth is present. In relational therapy, I aim to help everyone feel more understood, validated, and engaged in the relationship. Additionally, I have significant experience working with partnerships in which one or more people have symptoms of ADHD. Specific tools can be developed to manage the particular challenges of this configuration.
From an Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) standpoint, I work with you to identify emotions, how emotions influence the decisions you make, and your behaviors in relationships. We will practice coping skills to help you regulate these emotions. I also focus on the history of your attachments to gain a better understanding of how these attachments impact your current relationships and, if needed, work towards a more secure attachment style.
While I prefer in-office sessions, I also offer telehealth appointments when needed.
If you do not already have an individual therapist, I will likely encourage you to have individual therapy in conjunction with relational therapy.
